Surridge Films has been sponsoring “The English Theatre Frankfurt” for some time now by producing trailers of all their new productions. Here’s a screen shot of the most recent one, “Other Desert Cities”. Not as wacky as a lot of their musicals but nevertheless worth a visit.
We were pleased to shoot interviews and b roll for a brand new client, GFI straight out of Malta. We spent a beautifully sunny day filming the workforce at the Frankfurt based finance company Youmex Group. We shot with the good old Canon 5d and transferred the footage immediately to the client for a speedy turnaround.
Boeing in the USA came back to us again requesting images in Amsterdam of their workforce for internal communications. In case you’re wondering, no, Benny Hill has nothing to with Boeing but can be found at Amsterdam’s Madame Tussauds:)
A new U.S. based client requested 2 Xdcam crews to shoot a series of doctors discussions at a location just outside Frankfurt. We shot eight back to back sessions without a break over a period of 4 hours.
East German based Reeds and Stuff requested a camera crew to film their reed making products to be used on their online shop. We travelled to their base in the Erzgebirge, set up a studio there and spent 2 days doing table top photography filming a wide range of machines.
We regularly shoot the high and mighty at the Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt for their corporate communications. But its not just our skills in lighting and camera work that they value but the fact that we always send our native english speaking director extraordinaire, Keith, to smooth talk the english speaking Big Chief there.
Texas based Ansira requested a camera crew and gaffer to shoot in Frankfurt and Cologne for a corporate film they are producing. We shot on the C300 and were pleased we had our high speed lenses to get shallow depth of field in some very small offices.
US based Maslow Media requested a camera crew to shoot green screen with teleprompter in Morges, on the beautiful shores of Lake Geneva. We sent one of our Geneva based crews to cover the job and had one very happy client because he got a crew from us that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, Swiss prices are usually sky high.
Toronto-based 52 Media have come back to us again and we sent a Frankfurt based C300 crew to Stuttgart for them. They conducted a remote interview from Toronto via Skype and we shot it locally. the clients saved money
on sending someone overseas for just 1 interview and we provided the crew. Easy!
Toronto-based Daily Planet produce a daily show for Discovery Channel Canada and regularly request crews from us throughout Europe. This time we sent one of or Vienna-based crews to shoot a story about stunt man Joe Toedtling who was going for a world record fire run. Wearing a specially-designed suit, his wife lit him on fire and fully engulfed in flames, Joe attempted to run 160 metres. And he succeeded and set a new world record!
it’s not easy to get your mouth around Herzogenaurach but we occasionally have to because it’s the Adidas headquarters here in Germany. We’ve shot there on a number of occasions over the years for various clients from both the UK and USA. This time London-based We Are Social requested one of our Munich-based F5 crews to shoot there all this week.
Boeing out of USA commissioned us to take stills of their Paris based workforce. We sent along our Paris based photographer who captured dozens of fun images of the Boeing people working out around the Eiffel Tower. After editing we uploaded the images to the Boeing FTP server for a speedy turnaround. The clients were so pleased they have commissioned us to do the same in Amsterdam and Germany.

London based We are Social Ltd requested we send a Sony F5 camera crew to the famous Bavaria Film Studios in Munich to film Pep Guardiola, the Catalonian ex-football star turned manager of FC Bayern München. A fancy shoot with a lotta sponsoring action 🙂

The USA branch of the TVC Group requested a C300 crew and english speaking producer to shoot B Roll in Berlin and interview the local government spokesperson about all things Creativity in Berlin. A city that has boomed over the last 25 years and which is the melting pot for all things media and creative arts.
We often provide overseas clients local support crews to assist their own crews while shooting in Germany. UK-based World Business Strategy came back to us to book a sound recordist in Düsseldorf for a conference shoot.

Bloomberg came back again with another European Central Bank shoot in Frankfurt. The Bank has relocated to Frankfurt’s East Side and new archive footage is needed for future media usage. Unfortunately the bank didn’t take the old gigantic Euro sign with them, which always provided an attractive backdrop for stand ups. We shot XDCam HD.
Teleprompter shoots seem to be the flavour of the month. We had a couple of parallel shoots using these old monsters and this one was in Stuttgart for UK based Whisper.

We got the opportunity to shoot with 2 Sony FS7 cameras on 2 separate green screen shoots at Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank recently. We shot 4K with each camera so we could then zoom in during postproduction to achieve different focal lengths.Our intern Leon got some hands on experience with the latest darling in the camera department.:)
London-based Instinctif commissioned us to shoot a fake videoconference recently in Frankfurt. Being as the talent had to look down the lens all the time we got out the incredible EyeDirect again. Its a great way to focus the speaker’s eye line. Go for it!
US based Henry Schein booked us for a Teleprompter shoot in Berlin this week. We supplied a one man XDCam band plus teleprompter and operator. After the shoot we ftp’d the footage straight over the pond. Our intern Leon wasn’t in Berlin but looks good on the autocue.
Bloomberg requested a day of live standups outside Frankfurt’s new European Central Bank. In freezing temperatures we shot several live reports on the latest economic announcements by the powers that be. We used the portable satellite device LiveU and spent a lot of time keeping warm in the car between takes.
We shot an unbelievable 24 back to back green screen interviews for KPMG at a fancy hotel near Frankfurt recently, The Schlosshotel Kronberg. The Client wanted the Interviewees to look straight down the lens and being as we had so many to do with hardly any time for repeats we decided to play safe and used a very simple and effective device called EyeDirect. It’s an easy to use set of mirrors which attach to the lens and reflects the interviewers face to the lens. Like a teleprompter, but instead of reading words the interviewee sees the interviewer. I can strongly recommend it!
McKinsey & Company regularly request C300 camera crews to shoot corporate testimonials. This time our boys in Brussels came up with the goods and afterwards enjoyed a well earned beer. One of the advantages of shooting in Belgium!
We had the brand new Sony FS7 out again this week competing against the client’s own Sony F55 and our new baby fared very well indeed. We supplied our US client with local crew consisting of DP, photographer, camera assistant, soundie, gaffer, make up artist, production coordinator, runners and a bunch of lights, grip and camera gear. The clients were shooting a corporate for Bensheim based Tyco Connectivity, close to Frankfurt.

A US-based blue chip company commissioned us to shoot a classy interview in Munich. We shot 4K with 2 Sony F55s, fancy lighting, slider – the works! Future proofing video using 4K.
London-based AP regularly request production services from us in Germany and neighbouring Europe. This week we provided an English-speaking crew and producer in Dresden to shoot and edit a short clip about alternative energy for CNBC.
The year kicked off shooting people in the UK and Germany playing with fire and practicing their throwing skills. In the UK smoking and throwing the famous Haxey Hood and in Germany tossing and burning Christmas Trees. There’s nowt as weird as folk :))
At long last we got our hands on the brand new SonyFS7 for a shoot about the female football wonder Dzeni Maroszan. We shot tons of SloMo just for the hell of it!!! Not much else you can do on a rainy grey day in Saarbrücken!
Our final shoot of the year was for UK based Avanti Media who came to us with a last minute request for a support crew for their New’s Year Eve shoot at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate. It was Germany’s biggest celebration and we were spotlighting the Baywatch Superstar David Hasselhof. We certainly went out with a bang!
Merchant Cantos, a regular client of ours, requested a support crew for a documentary they were shooting about HSBC in Düsseldorf. We sent our experienced camera assistant and sound recordist from Cologne to complete the job.
The local Frankfurt Film Trade Journal “Grip” decided it was about time they featured me and subsequently sent an interviewer round who asked me the story of my life 🙂 Hope you enjoy it!
We have an ongoing relationship with Hamburg based Ex Libris to cover their events about all things digital libraries. This time we sent 2 local XDCam crews to Cologne to record various presentations. We then edit and reformat these clips for YouTube viewing.
We occasionally shoot legal depositions for U.S based law firms and agencies. This time we ended up for a couple of days Münster, Northern Germany.
McKinsey Berlin came back to to us with a request to shoot testimonials at Nokia in Helsinki. Our local videographer shot XDCAM HD and ftp’d the footage straight after the shoot for a speedy turnaround.

Our old friends at Catherine Turner Limited in London regularly request our Frankfurt-based crews to shoot testimonials at the pharmaceutical giant Böhringer Ingelheim. We sent two C300 crews there and had yet another satisfied customer!
Every year we shoot the wonderfully wacky ‘ClauWau’ – the Santa Claus Championships in Samnaun, Switzerland. Dozens of Santas and Santesses competing in weird and hilarious games in the snowy Alps. We sent our local Santa-experienced crew to shoot and then a speedy rough cut and FTP to our clients SNTV and Omnisport in London.
Goldman Sachs regularly shoot all things financial in Germany’s money capital, Frankfurt. We braved freezing temperatures to capture local b-roll for their most recent corporate. Our producer and 5D crew shot everything that spelt money… skyscrapers, commuters, hustle and bustle, skyline etc!
The German boulevard broadcaster ProSieben occasionally requests crews and reporters for breaking news stories in and around Frankfurt. Over the last couple of weeks they kept us on our toes covering the tragic death of Tugce A., a very sad story…
Bloomberg regularly request news crews to cover breaking business news in and around Frankfurt. We provide them with news crews, uplinks and edit/upload facilities.
Bloomberg requested a crew and uplink at Frankfurt’s fancy, modern and very expensive shard of glass…the European Central Bank. It was refreshingly chaotic because the Bank, which officially opens up next year, is still having teething troubles.
London-based Taylor Made Media came back to us again and requested a sound recordist and lighting kit for a shoot they were doing in Heidelberg. It’s not unusual for core crews to travel here from abroad and pick up local talent and gear to supplement their own crew. They save on travel costs and get local knowledge into the bargain. Furthermore a free translator! 🙂

This time we sent a Munich-based camera crew to shoot 2 days of product demonstrations at the Electronica Trade Fair. We shot XDCam at 1080, 30p. Another very satisfied customer!
US-based Tully Creative requested a C300 camera crew for a live stream conference celebrating achievements regarding a new medicine for animal health. We sent them one of our local Frankfurt crews and ended up with yet another satisfied customer!
London-based Wilder Films requested 2 Canon C300 camera crews for 7 day shoot at Germany’s pharmaceutical giant BASF in Mannheim. An endless run of interview and b-roll.
London-based Associated Press regularly requests crews to cover news stories in Berlin. We have a large pool of local crews in Berlin because demand is high there. AP also need fast onsite edits for a speedy turnaround and of course we cater to that too.

London-based Edge Picture recently requested a support crew for a shot destined for the Honda Paris Motor Show, filming at a trade fair in Offenbach, near Frankfurt. We provided a Frankurt-based gaffer, lights and grip, camera assistant, sound recordist and make-up artist. Yet another satisfied client that saved on travel and accommodation costs and got local knowledge into the bargain.

US-based Jeff Schatz requested 2 XDCam camera crews and a bilingual interviewer for a shoot about a new medication for MS. We provided local crews and talent and afterwards edited several versions of the clip in both English and German.
Canadian Discovery Channel requested a camera crew at short notice near the Belgian border in France. We quickly got our Brussels-based crew to film the story, which was about skydiving and 2 inventors who had constructed a special helmet with an inbuilt camera.

Many clients bring over their own DOPs and ask us to provide a sound recordist to supplement their crew. This time we provided a Frankfurt-based soundman for a shoot in picturesque Heidelberg.
We provided a Canon C300 crew and teleprompter for a piece to camera in Mainz, near Frankfurt, recently for US-based Carrier. Our corporate-experienced crew from Frankfurt did a great job coaching the talent to give a great delivery.
